The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region 6 and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Iloilo Chapter, will hold a Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) Investment Forum on November 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Richmonde Hotel, Iloilo as part of its regional roadshow to promote the benefits of the “Tourism Act of 2009” and encourage development to tourism stakeholders nationwide. The forum will introduce various investment opportunities offered in Flagship TEZs as well as the establishment of Private TEZs and Tourism Enterprises.

TIEZA proactively seeks out sites with high tourism potential to be master planned and prepare the area for high yielding tourism enterprises and investments consistent with the strategic directives of the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) to expand the country’s product portfolio for tourism.

Various local and foreign chambers of commerce, developers, tourism enterprises, consultancy/law firms, tourism associations, and other tourism related establishments around the region are expected to attend. Meanwhile, speakers from Trade & Investment Development Corporation (TIDCorp) and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) will discuss the investment and business opportunities, incentives, guarantees, and other related matters that will help shed light and guide the attendees in tourism development and the future of TEZ. The forum will also have one-on-one consultations after the program proper.

A Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) is an area of at least five (5) hectares in size and is in one (1) contiguous territory with historical and cultural significance, environmental beauty, or existing potential integrated leisure facilities within its vicinity. Investment opportunities await in Flagship TEZ such as, but not limited to, the establishment of waterfront development in Rizal Park Complex, Manila; power utility, lodging and accommodation establishments, and hotel resorts in San Vicente, Palawan; hotels, cable car system, and museum in Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor, Bataan; and Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) Center, and family hotel resorts in Panglao Bay Premiere, Bohol; and commercial building, resort facilities, and themed gardens in Bucas Grande, Surigao del Norte.

To date, TIEZA has already designated and registered seven (7) Private TEZ, namely, Ciudad de Victoria in Bulacan, Queen’s Castle Golf and Resort in Cebu, Bravo Golf in Negros Oriental, Hijo Resources in Davao del Norte, Kingdom Global City in Davao, Aton Land & Leisure Zone in Negros Occidental, and Amorita Resort in Bohol; and six (6) Registered Tourism Enterprises, namely, Kabote Beach Resort and Lazuli inside San Vicente FTEZ in Palawan, Signature Suites in Boracay, Philippine Arena in Bulacan Kingdome Stadium inside Kingdom Global City in Davao, and Magikland inside Aton Land and Leisure Zone in Silay.

TIEZA, through the TEZ, will not only master plan sustainable and stand-alone tourist destinations that will complement the natural endowments of the country, but will also provide viable investment opportunities for domestic and foreign investors where incentives are available. This in turn is anticipated to redound to inclusive growth through creating employment opportunities, promoting and prioritizing local culture and heritage, creating a destination and social impact, improving the livelihood and providing other opportunities, overall contributing to the tourism development of the country.
