The event gathered hotel investors, tourism stakeholders, and accommodation industry partners to learn more about the incentives program of TIEZA under the CREATE More Act and explore investment opportunities in TIEZA tourism enterprise zones and assets.

Held on March 25 at Ascott Makati, the briefing opened with remarks from PHOA President Arthur Lopez, followed by a welcome message from Atty. Karen Sarinas-Baydo, TIEZAโ€™s Assistant Chief Operating Officer for the Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) Management Sector. Atty. Sarinas-Baydo highlighted TIEZAโ€™s role as an Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) for tourism and emphasized the projected 456,055-room-night demand by 2028, and the room gap of 120,463 keys that the tourism industry must address within the next three (3) years.ย

Mr. Donaldo Maldonado, TIEZAโ€™s Evaluation and Regulation Division Manager, presented the main discussion on the registrable enterprises for tourism, specifically hotels, resorts, apartment hotels, Mabuhay accommodations, eco-lodges, and homestays, as well as the fiscal and non-fiscal incentives available under the CREATE MORE Act. The briefing also outlined TIEZAโ€™s streamlined application process, with estimated processing times of 20 working days for large enterprises and 10 working days for micro and small enterprises.

Testimonials from Mr. Jose โ€œJunโ€ Parreรฑo of Discovery World Corporation and Ms. Samantha H. Manigsaca, Assistant Vice President for Hospitality at AppleOne Group, followed, reinforcing TIEZAโ€™s commitment to facilitating tourism investments and the benefits that they have availed pursuant to their TIEZA registration.

A Q&A forum encouraged participants to engage in discussions, followed by closing remarks from PHOA Executive Director Benito Bengzon Jr.

The Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA) is a reputable organization representing the collective voice of hotel owners across the country, advocating for policy development, driving innovation, and upholding the highest standards of hospitality.
