๐๐ฌ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ญ ๐๐๐ค๐๐ญ๐ข, ๐๐๐ค๐๐ญ๐ข ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ โ The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), in partnership with the Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA), hosted a business briefing entitled, How Hotels Can Avail of the Tax and Duty Incentives under TIEZA. The event gathered hotel investors, tourism stakeholders, and accommodation industry partners to learn more about the incentives program of TIEZA under the CREATE More Act and explore investment opportunities in TIEZA tourism enterprise zones and assets.
Held on March 25 at Ascott Makati, the briefing opened with remarks from PHOA President Arthur Lopez, followed by a welcome message from Atty. Karen Sarinas-Baydo, TIEZAโs Assistant Chief Operating Officer for the Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) Management Sector. Atty. Sarinas-Baydo highlighted TIEZAโs role as an Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) for tourism and emphasized the projected 456,055-room-night demand by 2028, and the room gap of 120,463 keys that the tourism industry must address within the next three (3) years.ย
Mr. Donaldo Maldonado, TIEZAโs Evaluation and Regulation Division Manager, presented the main discussion on the registrable enterprises for tourism, specifically hotels, resorts, apartment hotels, Mabuhay accommodations, eco-lodges, and homestays, as well as the fiscal and non-fiscal incentives available under the CREATE MORE Act. The briefing also outlined TIEZAโs streamlined application process, with estimated processing times of 20 working days for large enterprises and 10 working days for micro and small enterprises.
