The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) participated in the newly launched VISMIN Tourism Congress and Travel Sale to promote its prime tourism investment destinations and investment incentives program held on 13-15 July 2023 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Lahug in Cebu City.
The first-ever VISMIN Tourism Congress and Travel Sale, organized by the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu, Inc. (HRRACI), featured a two-day conference packed with various sessions of insightful presentations and discussions on travel trends, marketing and digital transformation relative to sustainable tourism development from tourism key-players, industry experts and policymakers. Simultaneously, it also highlighted a three-day travel sale to offer discounted travel packages, fares and accommodations to its delegates.
The tourism congress was graced by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia and DOT Undersecretary Mae Elaine T. Bathan along with other tourism industry representatives from government and private organizations across Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Assistant Chief Operating Officer for Tourism Enterprise Zone Management Sector, Atty. Karen Mae G. Sarinas-Baydo, represented the Authority to introduce its function as the infrastructure and investment arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), highlighted on her presentation of “Capitalizing Investment with TIEZA as a Partner” was TIEZA’s contribution and continuous initiatives in achieving sustainable tourism through its infrastructure projects and collaborative efforts with public and private sectors.
Moreover, Atty. Sarinas-Baydo promoted prime tourism investment offerings in TIEZA’s designated Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zones (FTEZ) which are currently looking for investors that may be interested to locate their tourism-related projects in one of its FTEZs such as San Vicente FTEZ in Palawan, Mt. Samat FTEZ in Bataan, Rizal Park Complex in Manila, Corregidor Island in Cavite and Panglao Shores in Bohol.
She also underscored the promotion of TIEZA’s Assets which are available for Joint Venture Partnerships, among others are Balacad Property in Ilocos Norte, Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan, Balicasag Island Dive Resort in Bohol, and Moalboal Property in Cebu—which TIEZA is currently grooming to become one of the major tourism investment destinations in the country through public-private cooperation.
She also outlined the tax and duty incentives package that are entitled to tourism-related projects or activities once they applied for registration with TIEZA and qualified as a TIEZA-registered tourism enterprises under the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act.
TIEZA also catered inquiries on the incentives and application for registration with TIEZA, as well as the details of the investment opportunities in TIEZA’s Assets and Flagship TEZs from potential investors through its information table set up at the event.
On the other hand, the VISMIN Travel Sale had over a hundred exhibitors composed of travel agencies, airlines, hotels and resorts, transportation companies, hospitality and tourism schools, including TIEZA that opened a sales booth to offer luxurious and budget-friendly travel packages, tips and tools for stakeholders to travel safely and conveniently. Balicasag Island Dive Resort, Gardens of Malasag, Zamboanga Golf Course and Beach Park, and Club Intramuros Golf Course were among the destinations offered by TIEZA’s booth at the travel sale. TIEZA was the Silver sponsor of the VISMIN Tourism Congress and Travel Sale.
