The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) participated in the first  Cordillera Regional Tourism Investment Forum held on 02 – 03 April 2024 at the Baguio Country Club, Baguio City to promote its investment incentives program to the stakeholders in the region. The event was organized by the Department of Tourism Cordillera Region (DOT-CAR), headed by Regional Director Jovita Ganongan.

The said forum, featured a two-day event packed with various sessions of insightful presentations and discussions on tourism and travel trends, marketing and digital transformation, investment priorities and incentives, various gateway programs, investment challenges and solutions, relative to sustainable tourism development from tourism key-player, industry experts and policymakers. Simultaneously, attendees also had the chance to participate in exclusive B2B meetings to gain firsthand insights into investment prospects within the tourism landscape.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong delivered his Welcome Remarks through video. The event was graced by Congressman Marquez Go who also delivered his Message of Support. Present as well were other tourism industry officials and representatives from government and private organizations across the region.

Assistant Chief Operating Officer for Tourism Enterprise Zone Management Sector, Atty. Karen Mae G. Sarinas-Baydo, represented the Authority to introduce its function as the infrastructure and investment arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT). Highlighted in her presentation were TIEZA’s contributions and continuous initiatives in achieving sustainable tourism through its infrastructure projects and collaborative efforts with public and private sectors.

Moreover, ACOO Sarinas-Baydo promoted the tax and duty incentives package that may be availed of by tourism-related projects or activities once they apply for registration with TIEZA and qualify as a TIEZA-registered tourism enterprise under the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act.

TIEZA also set up an information booth to answer inquiries on the incentives and application for registration with TIEZA, discuss the details of the investment opportunities in TIEZA’s Assets and Flagship TEZs from potential investors, as well as possible LGU infrastructure projects and partnerships.

Indeed, this pioneering event successfully provided a platform for the presentation of investment opportunities, networking, partnership and collaboration among key tourism stakeholders in the Cordillera Region to promote Mountain Tourism and much more.#
