𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 – The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) has partnered with the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) to host the 4th Investments Promotion Agencies (IPA) Gender and Development (GAD) Advocacy Forum held on 07-08 October 2024 at the TIEZA’s Multipurpose Hall. This significant event brings together representatives from IPAs across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to discuss the integration of gender inclusivity in investment promotion.
In her opening remarks, Atty. Karen Mae Sarinas-Baydo, Assistant Chief Operating Officer for the TEZ Management Sector of TIEZA, highlighted the critical role of investment promotion agencies in fostering economic growth while underscoring the importance of gender inclusivity. “Through the Philippine Investment Promotion Plan (PIPP), our mission is to attract and facilitate investments that contribute to the nation’s progress, create jobs, and build a sustainable future for all Filipinos,” she said. She also emphasized that true progress cannot be achieved without addressing the issues of gender equality and inclusivity.
The two-day forum is led and facilitated by Atty. Ian Dennis R. Baniqued, Acting Director, Financial and Administrative Service of the Board of Investments (BOI) and Ms. Analie R. Bolo-Apostol, GAD Program Consultant. It provides a platform for IPAs to discuss best practices and foster collaboration on advancing GAD initiatives. Topics include GAD Audit systems, the latest GAD policies, and innovative post-pandemic initiatives, ensuring that investment programs not only generate economic gains but also empower marginalized sectors.
TIEZA’s Gender and Development Focal Point System Technical Working Group (GFPS-TWG), spearheaded by Dra. Ochee Olgado and Ms. Anne Mateo, continues to champion meaningful outcomes from this collaborative effort. The forum is expected to inspire new partnerships, policies, and gender-responsive governance aligned with the country’s broader development goals.
