The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) has completed a ₱47.6 million solar-powered streetlight project, illuminating a 14-kilometer stretch across three (3) barangays within the San Vicente Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone (SVFTEZ): New Agutaya, San Isidro, and Alimanguan. The project features the installation of 471 solar streetlights, alternately placed along the roads from Sitio Landing in New Agutaya to the now fully functional Tourist Assistance Center (TAC) in Barangay Alimanguan.
The project aims to enhance visibility and safety for nighttime motorists along the highway, while utilizing a sustainable and cost-effective solution. Moreover, it ensures more secure access to tourist destinations within the SVFTEZ priority area, where accommodation facilities and other tourism enterprises continue to thrive.
The 14-kilometer solar streetlight installation marks the tenth infrastructure project completed by TIEZA within the SVFTEZ. Other completed projects include the removal of the airport hill obstruction, the installation of three (3) modular docking facilities, the construction of the TAC in Barangay Alimanguan, the Tourist Information Center (TIC) and TIEZA Satellite Office in Barangay New Agutaya, the installation of 50-meter coastal easement monument markers along the Long Beach area, and the commissioning of consultancy services for the power generation and distribution system.
Currently, TIEZA is also implementing a ₱57.2 million Long Beach Access Roads project. Other TIEZA Board-approved projects in the pipeline include the development of the water supply and distribution system with sewerage treatment plant, TIC, among others.
TIEZA, in collaboration with its development partner, the Municipal Government of San Vicente, and other tourism stakeholders, continues to transform the SVFTEZ into an investment-ready and attractive tourist destination. Tourism enterprises are encouraged to register with TIEZA to take advantage of the fiscal incentives available under the CREATE Act, as well as other government assistance programs.
