Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), represented by Chief Operating Officer / General Manager Pocholo Paragas, and Cebu Air, Inc. (Cebu Pacific Air), represented by Vice President for Corporate Affairs Atty. Paterno Mantaring, Jr. and Director for Aeropolitical Affairs Atty. Khristian Alvaera, formally signed on December 5, 2017 at the Makati Diamond Residences in Makati City the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the procedure to be undertaken for the collection of travel tax for airline tickets purchased through Cebu Pacific Air’s website and mobile app.
TIEZA is the primary agency, mandated by Republic Act No. 9593 or “The Tourism Act of 2009”, responsible for the timely collection of travel taxes. With the MOA in place, Cebu Pacific Air is authorized to collect travel tax and to remit its collections to TIEZA periodically. Passengers now have the option to pay their travel taxes directly with Cebu Pacific Air upon purchasing their tickets online or through mobile app. This would help ease the lines on on-site payment of travel tax and provide a hassle-free travel for passengers.
