23 April 2019 — BOAO FORUM FOR ASIA MANILA CONFERENCE. The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) – Tourism Enterprise Zone Management Sector (TEZMS) met with potential Chinese investors during the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Manila Conference held at the Shangri-La Fort, Taguig City, Manila.

The TIEZA-TEZMS took the opportunity to participate in the Boao Forum Conference as potential investment deals between Filipino and Chinese business leaders and other stakeholders may generate more infrastructure projects for the benefit of the Tourism Enterprise Zones (TEZs).

“On behalf of TIEZA Chief Operating Officer (COO) Pocholo D. Paragas, we would like to thank the Federation Of Filipino Chinese Chambers Of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and the BFA for inviting us to participate in the conference. As we strive to stimulate foreign direct investments (FDIs) through our Flagship TEZs, a forum such as this, is the perfect venue for TIEZA to highlight the viability of the country’s investment climate in the tourism industry,” said TIEZA TEZ Management Sector Assistant Chief Operating Officer (ACOO) Atty. Karen Mae G. Sarinas-Baydo.

TIEZA is continuously improving its systems and processes to make business transactions with TEZ investors and Registered Tourism Enterprises (RTEs) more streamlined and efficient. Just in the first quarter of 2019, TIEZA launched its Electronic Import Permit System (eIPS), an online web-based system for filing and processing of the import permit applications coming from the TEZs and RTEs making it easier for investors and locators to file their import permits.

As the infrastructure arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), TIEZA is also committed to become a globally recognized tourism development agency and a catalyst for poverty allevation.

Later this year, TIEZA is set to conduct a series of regional investment forums in partnership with local and foreign business groups and chambers of commerce to seek for potential tourism-related investments that will help spur inclusive and socio-economic growth for the communities within the country’s TEZs.
