The TIEZA – Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority was featured on the 28th General Membership Meeting of the Israel Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ICCP), titled โ€œRevitalizing the Economy with TIEZA,โ€ held on 19 April 2023 at the Fairmont Makati.

 

Speaking at the event was Assistant Chief Operating Officer for the Tourism Enterprise Zone Management Sector, Atty. Karen Mae G. Sarinas-Baydo who represented the Authority.

 

With tourism as the major pillar of economic growth, the Department of Tourism (DOT) espouses the 7-Point Agenda which highlights improving tourism infrastructure and accessibility and enhancing the overall tourist experience.

 

Atty. Sarinas-Baydo introduced how the Authority contributes to this thrust through its mandate, and underscored the efforts and initiative of TIEZA in championing a resilient and sustainable tourism in the country.

 

She then outlined the infrastructure projects of TIEZA and promoted the viable area of investments available in TIEZA Assets and Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zones for public and private partnerships.

 

Likewise, Atty. Sarinas-Baydo presented registrable tourism enterprises that may apply with TIEZA for the grant of the tax and duty incentives under the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act such as Income Tax Holiday, Enhanced Deductions, and Duty Exemption on Importation of Capital Equipment, among others.

 

Registrable projects and activities include the following, tourist transport services, accommodation establishment, convention and exhibition facilities or MICE, amusement parks, adventure and eco-tourism facilities, sports facilities and recreational centers, health and wellness facilities, theme parks, farm tourism, tourism training centers and institutes, development of retirement villages, and restoration or preservation and operation of historical shrines landmarks and structures.

TIEZA had also set up an information booth to cater and address the inquiries of the participants as well as to network for potential investors.

 

TIEZA has always been consistent in advancing partnerships for the sustainability of the Philippine tourism industry and ultimately help boost the local economy through generating employment and livelihood opportunities in the investment destination areas.

 

The Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines, H.E. Ilan Fluss was among the notable guests during the event along with other key stakeholders in the industry.
